Comfort Blankets
Our Project Linus Chapter was formed in 1999 when someone from UU found the PL website, thrust a printout in Joan Boewe’s hands and asked her if she thought our UU could be involved. She eagerly responded with a hearty “yes.” Since then, we have continually been making and donating blankets to about 22 agencies, and have delivered 5823 of them.
UUFMC is no longer an active Project Linus Chapter. Nevertheless, thirty or more Richmond and Berea ladies continue to make these blankets from new materials. They must be washable and in child-friendly colors. They can be knitted, crocheted, sewn or quilted. Favorite materials are fleece and flannel. The group is always looking for new “blanketeers” and places where sick or traumatized babies, children or youth would find comfort in the embrace of a soft, warm and cozy blanket.
