Small Dinners Sheet Due
March 17, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
What are Small Group Dinners?
For a number of years the UU Fellowship has invited members and friends to participate in Small Group Dinners. The feedback over the years has been very positive. There are two rounds of dinners during the year—one in fall and one in spring. Everyone is invited to sign up.
You may elect to be either host or guest or both. The Small Dinner Committee then assigns guests to each host volunteer, with the goal of giving everyone the opportunity to meet new people and to get to know old acquaintances better. Those volunteering to be hosts are asked to indicate how many guests they can accommodate. Usually the number attending any dinner is 6-8 people, including the hosts. Dinner dates are arranged by individual hosts in consultation with their guests.
What do the hosts do?
Hosts contact guests to find a mutually acceptable date. This can be challenging, so start as soon as possible. Hosts provide the main course and beverages, asking guests to bring the other food, such as side dishes, appetizers, salads, and/or desserts. Hosts inform guests about the number of people who will be attending.
What do the guests do?
Guests show up and bring the food agreed upon. If a guest discovers he/she cannot attend the dinner unexpectedly, she/he is asked to let the host know as soon as possible since hosts are counting on a certain number of guests to bring food. In the event a guest cannot attend, the host may want to invite a substitute.
