Community Service

Unitarian Universalism and social justice go hand-in-glove.  Here are our primary community projects at this time.

COMFORT BLANKETS

SECOND PLATE

At the UUFMC, the second Sunday of every month is Community Sunday, a day in which we pass a second plate to collect donations for community organizations, collect nonperishable foods for food pantries, and have a congregational potluck.  The four organizations selected for the 2019-2020 year by UUFMC members at their annual meeting are: Hospice, Kentuckians for the Commonwealth, Planned Parenthood, and Meals on Wheels.

LOCAL FOOD PANTRIES

Every Sunday, members of our congregation bring nonperishable foods and personal care items to the service to add to our ongoing collection of supplies for local food banks.  We make a special effort to do so on Community Sundays, which are the second Sundays of every month.

CREEK CLEANING

Every summer, the UUFMC gives back by replacing a Sunday service with a day for cleaning a local creek of the trash and other human debris that collects in our local watershed.
